LEON CHARLES TRADER, STARTED WITH CLASS OF 1966, PASSES AWAY

  Military hero Leon Charles Trader Passes away   Leon Charles Trader, who started with the Class of 1966 at Monongah High but left to join the Army. He was wounded in Vietnam, earning him the Purple Heart.   Everson resident Joseph Bombard , Class of 1966 along with Joe’s wife, Marva Holt Bombard, told me:   “ John Olesky , I knew Mr. Trader very well. He would have graduated class of 1966 but he quit school and joined the Army and was sent to Viet Nam where he was injured and received the Purple Heart.   “We grew up together in Everson. We hunted, fished and played kids sports together. Both our fathers were coal miners in those days. We played our sports games in a pasture field. We where really close.”   Fishing buddies is correct. CHERYL KAY "SHERRY" McDONALD, CLASS OF 1966, PASSES AWAY

  Cheryl Kay “Sherry” McDonald, Class of 1966, passed away.   Sherry attended the Monongah High Alumni Banquet in 2016 – Class of 1966 was Honor Class for its 50 th anniversary of graduating from MHS -- and listed her address as Sunrise Street in Worthington.   Sherry’s Facebook page lists her from Hutchinson and living in Hutchinson. Sherry was at the 2006 MHS Banquet for the 40 th anniversary of the Class of 1966. At Monongah High Sherry was in the Junior Red Cross, Home Economics Club, Knitting Club, Glee Club, Fashion Show and Variety Show. Sherry was former Marion County Commission Marion County Senior Aides project director. She is a Fairmont State graduate and a big-time North Marion High booster. RAYMOND JOY, CLASS OF 1955, PASSS AWAY

  Raymond Joy, Class of 1955, passed away Sunday. Raymond was the last of Joseph and Mary Falcone Joy’s children to pass away. He was predeceased by Joe Joy, Class of 1957, who married Victoria Seccuro Joy, who still lives in Monongah; Bob Joy, Class of 1956, on the 1955 Monongah High state champions football team; John Joy, Class of 1960; and Bill Joy, Class of 1964. Raymond’s widow is Lois Merico Joy, 1951 Fairview High graduate. Raymond retired from Consol Robinson Run Mine. He was an Army veteran who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a WVU sports fan. Raymond was in the Letterman’s Club at Monongah High. Raymond’s obituary: Raymond Anthony Joy, 86, of Monongah passed away Sunday February 5, 2023 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. KIM DAVIDSON-CRADDOCK MAY BE AT 100TH MHS BANQUET . . . WHAT ABOUT YOU?

  Kim Davidson-Craddock May be at 100 th MHS Banquet   Kim Davidson-Craddock is hoping to attend the 100 th Monongah High Alumni Banquet on Saturday, May 27, Memorial Day weekend. 2000 Fairmont State criminal justice graduate Kim lives in Fairmont with husband Art Craddock, a Canadian. When Kim told me his original country of residence and I said “Nothing wrong with that,” Kim responded: “My Mom gave him the stamp of approval.” Her mother is the amazing late Sue Greynolds Davidson, Class of 1955, who was married to Melvin “Whitey” Davidson. Kim said her father was president of the Monongah High Alumni Associaton for years. Linda Lopez Gandy, Class of 19??, who lives in Florida with husband Jim Gandy, has been the Alumni president for decades, including currently. Sue and Junior Elutrio, Class of 19??, had legendary dances at many Monongah High   Banquet reunions. I always looked forward to watching them since I am a guy with two left feet when it comes to dancing. W

   The Monongah Christmas Lights Committee's Easter/Mothers Day Craft Show will be April 8. Food, desserts, raffles are included.  There will be Easter Bunny playing games and an egg hunt, of course. A few months later, President Susan  Staron Sanders, the Angel of Thomas Street, said, the Summer Festival for children will take place.

NOVA DORIS REEVES, JOANNA CAMEON REEVES' MOTHER-IN-LAW, PASSES AWAY

  Fairmont East graduate Nova Doris Reeves, mother-in-law of Joanna Cameron Reeves, Class of 1971, via Joanna’s marriage to Nova’s son, Arthur Reeves, passed away Thursday, January 19. Joanna lived in Carolina while attending Monongah High but her 2018 Monongah High Alumni Banquet reservation gave her address as Mannington. Both Joanna and sister Francine Cameon Reeves married into the Reeves family. Stan Cameon , 1981 North Marion grad who is from Monongah but lives in Fairmont, is among Joanna’s many cousins. Cameons include Clyde and Maggie Cameon of Carolina whose children include Virginia Cameon Mezzanotte, Bill Cameon, Class of 1960; Nathaleen Cameon Oliverio, Class of 1948; Pete Cameon, Class of 1958; Linda Cameon, Class of 1966; Arthur Cameon, Joe Cameon and Rudy Cameon. Then there’s Francis King Cameon, Class of 1942; Constance Koldres Cameon, Class of 1963; Angela Cameon Viney, Class of 1968; Francine Cameon Jurasko, Class of 1978; Cheri Slamen Cameon, North Marion 1980; and
