NOVA DORIS REEVES, JOANNA CAMEON REEVES' MOTHER-IN-LAW, PASSES AWAY

 


Fairmont East graduate Nova Doris Reeves, mother-in-law of Joanna Cameron Reeves, Class of 1971, via Joanna’s marriage to Nova’s son, Arthur Reeves, passed away Thursday, January 19.
Joanna lived in Carolina while attending Monongah High but her 2018 Monongah High Alumni Banquet reservation gave her address as Mannington.
Both Joanna and sister Francine Cameon Reeves married into the Reeves family.
Stan Cameon, 1981 North Marion grad who is from Monongah but lives in Fairmont, is among Joanna’s many cousins.
Cameons include Clyde and Maggie Cameon of Carolina whose children include Virginia Cameon Mezzanotte, Bill Cameon, Class of 1960; Nathaleen Cameon Oliverio, Class of 1948; Pete Cameon, Class of 1958; Linda Cameon, Class of 1966; Arthur Cameon, Joe Cameon and Rudy Cameon.
Then there’s Francis King Cameon, Class of 1942; Constance Koldres Cameon, Class of 1963; Angela Cameon Viney, Class of 1968; Francine Cameon Jurasko, Class of 1978; Cheri Slamen Cameon, North Marion 1980; and Albert Cameon of Mannington.

Obituary of Nova Doris Reeves

Mrs. Nova Doris Reeves, 92 years of age of Fairmont, WV passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah, WV.
She was born May 3, 1930 in Wheeler, WV the daughter of the late Everett and Estella Goff Helmick.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Ray Reeves. She is survived by three sons Allen Reeves and wife Caryn, Ronald Reeves and wife Ranie and Arthur Reeves and wife Joanna; one daughter Vicki Reeves; five grandchildren Adam Reeves, Hollie Reeves, Allison Reeves Stewart, Aaron Reeves and Abbey Julian; and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by son Mark Reeves.
Nova was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. She was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church where she was active in the Women’s Ministries. Also, at the church she participated with the worship choir and Tuesday’s Bible study group called Young at Heart.
She lived her life “young at heart” and enjoyed traveling with family vacations. As a seamstress, she made many beautiful wedding dresses and alterations for family and friends. She spent her quiet time outside gardening and tending to her flowers.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV on Sunday, January 22 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Charles Fancher presiding. The interment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens.

  Military hero Leon Charles Trader Passes away   Leon Charles Trader, who started with the Class of 1966 at Monongah High but left to join the Army. He was wounded in Vietnam, earning him the Purple Heart.   Everson resident Joseph Bombard , Class of 1966 along with Joe’s wife, Marva Holt Bombard, told me:   “ John Olesky , I knew Mr. Trader very well. He would have graduated class of 1966 but he quit school and joined the Army and was sent to Viet Nam where he was injured and received the Purple Heart.   “We grew up together in Everson. We hunted, fished and played kids sports together. Both our fathers were coal miners in those days. We played our sports games in a pasture field.   Jamie Davis Richards passes away   Jamie Davis Richards passed away. Her parents are Mary Ann “Minnie” Davis and Harry W. “Chick” Davis. Jamie’s siblings are Dianna Davis Fugera, Class of 1975 and Mark Davis, Class of 1978. Jamie married Tony Richards.   Monongah Mayor Johnboy Palmer posted: “ It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Jamie Richards passing this evening after her courageous battle with cancer. Please join me in keeping her entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Jamie's strength and resilience will always be remembered. Rest in peace, Jamie.”

          BOB AND SHERRY MYERS COLANERO BURIAL JANUARY 12 Bob and Sherry Myers Colanero burial January 12   Bob Colanero, Class of 1960 passed away December 11 and his widow, Sherry Myers Colanero,   passes away two days later.   They will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with military honors on January 12, 2024. I missed it but Jim McDaniel, Class of 1960, who lives in Behoboth Beach, Delaware, sent me the sad news, posting “So much sadness in the world.” Jim served in the Air Force for 23 years. His grandfather, Carroll Currey, owned the hotel, bank and movie theater in Monongah, all in the same block. Carroll also had a car dealership on 7th street in Fairmont. Bob’s sister, Judith Nicola Colanero, predeceased Bob. Another sibling, Danny Colanero, lies in North Carolina with wife Linda. Judy’s brother, Paul Colanero, passed away in Georgia.
