But on Saturday, July 16, Rosemary and Carmen Pagliaro celebrated their FIFTY SEVENTH wedding anniversary in Fairmont.   Rosemary is the only daughter of Mary Dudiak Raymond and Angelo Raymond and the only sibling of Bob Raymond, Class of 1951, whose widow, Susan Russell Raymond, lives in White Hall.     Rosemary and Carmen’s children are Melanie Ann Pagliaro, policy analyst for the Majority Leader in the West Virginia House of Delegates, who lives in Charleston, and C.J. OKLA EDGELL'S HARROWING WORLD WAR II EXPERIENCE BECOMES HIS FANTASTIC BOOK

                                                  Okla Edgell         Arlene Marteney Edgell, Okla Edgell His book recalls Okla Edgell’s amazing WWII survival   Okla Edgell, at Monongah High till he entered the miliary, at the age of 95 wrote a book about his harrowing World War II experiences, “Some Gave All: A Tailgunner’s Perspective on WWII,” which was written with his stepson William Decker. Okla, who grew up on Harter Hill near Worthington and is married to Arlene Marteney Decker Edgell, Class of 1951, was a prisoner of war, survived the crash when his plane was shot down in Holland even though he had 12 bullet holes in his clothes which only grazed his body but his chest was split down the middle, there was shrapnel in his body and his fingernails were burnt off, and was walked to his execution ramp but before being taken instead to a POW camp. JOE DeMARY'S STEPFATHER, KIM DeMARY CLOWERS' FATHER PASSED AWAY

  Monongah native writes tribute to late stepfather Joe DeMary, a Monongah native but Chattanooga, Tennessee Red Bank High School graduate who lives in Ringgold, Georgia with Beverly Sutton DeMary, wrote a beautiful tribute to his stepfather Harold Lee Hustead who passed away Monday, July 10 at his Red Bank home.   The West Virginia Tech graduate taught industrial arts at Dupont High School in West Virginia. He was with the Red Bank fire department for 39 years.   Kim DeMary Clowers is his daughter.   Joe is a former firefighter/engineer at the city of Red Bank. The Georgia Joe DeMary’s father was Joseph A. DeMary, a retired Loveridge Mine coal miner who passed away in 2007 in Rivesville after spending much of his life in Monongah. Papa Joe was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah, which replaced the Polish St. Stanislaus Church and Italian Our Lady of Pompeii Church. KAREN LOU RICHARD MEFFE, BUTCH'S WIDOW, PASSES AWAY

  Butch Meffe’s widow Passes away   Butch Meffe’s widow, Karen Lou Richard Meffee, passed away June 20 in Morgantown. Karen grew up on Tower Hill in Monongah and is buried in Tower Hill cemeterary. Karen’s obituary: Karen Lou Meffe passed away at Ruby Memorial hospital in Morgantown on June 20, 2023, at the age of 74. Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin “Butch” Meffe, her brothers Vernon Richards and Wilford “Marty” Richards, her mother, Nina Richards and father, John Vernon “Buck” Richards.  She is survived by her son, Christopher Meffe, her daughter, Tonya Bohn, her grandson, Ryan Bohn and sisters, Sharon (Mark) Vincent and Ellen Ryan.  Karen was born in Monongah, WV, where she lived her entire life.  She was a selfless person, always looking to lift others up through her kind words, deeds and of course through her incredible talent for making sweets, most notably her peanut butter fudge and pound cake!  When she wasn’t doing for others, she devoted her

    Monongah High football star Roger Duckworth passes away   2023 Roger Duckworth, Class of 1965, passed away July 3. His funeral will be in Enterprise on July 7. He lived in Worthington. He was a Fairmont State graduate who worked in Consolidation Coal Company management. Even though he was born in Richwood he attended both Thoburn Elementary School and Monongah High. Roger is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Menear Duckworth. Their children are Kevin A. Duckworth of Worthington, Tara Lynn Morgan of Weddington, North Carolina. They have 4 grandchildren.  Roger’s sisters are Marsha Riley Bridgeport and Tamela McMurray of Newark, Delaware. Roger was predeceased by three brothers Richard L. Duckworth of Columbus, Ohio, Elton Allen Duckworth of Worthington, Charles W. Duckworth of Lumberport, Michael L. (Mick) Duckworth and infant brothers Robin Laign Duckworth and Tommy Duckworth.     1973 Monongah High state champs to be honored Are you one? Or do you know how to contact any 1973 players?   Monia Jo Preolitti Thomas, my   Fazio family tree cousin, and Goldie Huffman are trying to contact as many members of the 1973 Monongah High state championship football team to honor them at the annual lamb roast, which will be August 1. The 1973 team was among FIVE state football champs at Monongah High, beating South Harrison, 21-20. The others came in 1952, coached by Jim Feltz, when Monongah beat Winfield, 20-14; in 1955, with Feltz again the coach, when the Lions beat Wirt County, 14-13; and in 1968 and 1969, with Alabama football coach Nick Saban the 1968 quarterback, beating Paden City both years, 20-12 and 26-0.   Jim Feltz’ son, Jay Feltz, quarterbacked the 1973 team.   Birthday party worthy of royal event!   Sue Schrader, Class of 1971, really enjoyed her 70 th birthday part organized by her sister, Kitty Morrison, Class of 1968, with a flourish that was unbelievable.   Sue posted:   “Thank you so much everyone for taking time from your holiday weekend to come celebrate my 70th birthday with me. The day turned out so well, the weather even waited until 9 pm to storm.   “My sister Kitty Morrison did an amazing job. I know I don’t say it enough, but I want you to know how much I appreciate all that you do. Thank you to all who helped with the party, Shelly Yankie and Breanna Stewart. The pepperoni rolls, chicken, hot dogs and sauce, cupcakes and cake were amazing.   “ Kathy Lynn Morrison the meatballs were amazing. Baked beans, so good. Cheri Bates for bean dip, watermelon, sauerkraut, kiebaksi, orange cream dessert. “Kit for cooking two days making all the salads and appetizers. Favors were all so great. Beth Beardsley
