Birthday party worthy of royal event!

 

Sue Schrader, Class of 1971, really enjoyed her 70th birthday part organized by her sister, Kitty Morrison, Class of 1968, with a flourish that was unbelievable.

 

Sue posted:

 

“Thank you so much everyone for taking time from your holiday weekend to come celebrate my 70th birthday with me. The day turned out so well, the weather even waited until 9 pm to storm.

 

“My sister Kitty Morrison did an amazing job. I know I don’t say it enough, but I want you to know how much I appreciate all that you do.

Thank you to all who helped with the party, Shelly Yankie and Breanna Stewart. The pepperoni rolls, chicken, hot dogs and sauce, cupcakes and cake were amazing.

 

“Kathy Lynn Morrison the meatballs were amazing. Baked beans, so good. Cheri Bates for bean dip, watermelon, sauerkraut, kiebaksi, orange cream dessert.

“Kit for cooking two days making all the salads and appetizers. Favors were all so great.

Beth Beardsley for helping the whole day, she was always washing something.

 

“Thank you to my family for setting everything up and having a good time while doing it. Chris Schrader the public service announcements were hilarious!

 

“Mike Ahouse (her brother) for being doing the valet parking.

 

“Sure I missed a few, so sorry for not calling out my name and thank you. For those that traveled in just for the party, thank you. Great seeing everyone.

 

“I could write a book (and think I have in this post) on how much it meant to spend a day with all of you. I so enjoyed everyone.

 

“Even though I told Kit I didn’t want a party, sure glad she ignored me. Love you Kit and Thank you.”

  Military hero Leon Charles Trader Passes away   Leon Charles Trader, who started with the Class of 1966 at Monongah High but left to join the Army. He was wounded in Vietnam, earning him the Purple Heart.   Everson resident Joseph Bombard , Class of 1966 along with Joe’s wife, Marva Holt Bombard, told me:   “ John Olesky , I knew Mr. Trader very well. He would have graduated class of 1966 but he quit school and joined the Army and was sent to Viet Nam where he was injured and received the Purple Heart.   “We grew up together in Everson. We hunted, fished and played kids sports together. Both our fathers were coal miners in those days. We played our sports games in a pasture field. We where really close.”   Fishing buddies is correct. JAMIE DAVIS RICHARDS PASSES AWAY. DAUGHTER OF MINNIE DAVIS AND CHICK DAVIS

  Jamie Davis Richards passes away   Jamie Davis Richards passed away. Her parents are Mary Ann “Minnie” Davis and Harry W. “Chick” Davis. Jamie’s siblings are Dianna Davis Fugera, Class of 1975 and Mark Davis, Class of 1978. Jamie married Tony Richards.   Monongah Mayor Johnboy Palmer posted: “ It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Jamie Richards passing this evening after her courageous battle with cancer. Please join me in keeping her entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Jamie's strength and resilience will always be remembered. Rest in peace, Jamie.”

          BOB AND SHERRY MYERS COLANERO BURIAL JANUARY 12 Bob and Sherry Myers Colanero burial January 12   Bob Colanero, Class of 1960 passed away December 11 and his widow, Sherry Myers Colanero,   passes away two days later.   They will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with military honors on January 12, 2024. I missed it but Jim McDaniel, Class of 1960, who lives in Behoboth Beach, Delaware, sent me the sad news, posting “So much sadness in the world.” Jim served in the Air Force for 23 years. His grandfather, Carroll Currey, owned the hotel, bank and movie theater in Monongah, all in the same block. Carroll also had a car dealership on 7th street in Fairmont. Bob’s sister, Judith Nicola Colanero, predeceased Bob. Another sibling, Danny Colanero, lies in North Carolina with wife Linda. Judy’s brother, Paul Colanero, passed away in Georgia.
