FUNERAL SATURDAY, MARCH 16 FOR LORRAINE DeFAZIO BARTH
LORRAINE MARIE DeFAZIO BARTH
Lorraine DeFazio
Barth funeral Saturday, March 16
Funeral services for Lorraine Marie
DeFazio Barth, Class of 1951, will be Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m. Calling
hours at Ford Funeral Home in Bridgeport, at 215 East Main Street, will be noon
to 2 p.m. Saturday.
A private burial for family members
will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Monongah, which I often visit because my
favorite Monongah High teacher, Mary Turkovich, and my dad’s sister, Frances
Olesky Fazio, and her husband, Renzy Fazio, are buried there.
Her husband for 60 years, Walter L.
Barth, passed away in 2016. He was prominent in community activities in
Buckhannon and then Bridgeport.
Lorraine’s obituary:
Lorraine Marie (DeFazio) Barth, 91, passed away
peacefully on March 9, 2024 at the Bridgeport Healthcare Center. She was born
on February 14, 1933 in Monongah, a daughter of the late Cosimo and Guiseppina
(Josephine) Ribera DeFazio who had immigrated from Naples and Sicily. She was a
1951 graduate of Monongah High School. In 2016, Lorraine was preceded in death
by her loving husband of 60 years, Walter L. Barth. She will be deeply missed
by her children, Darletta Stout and husband Steve of Bridgeport, WV and Ron
Barth and wife Linda of Chicago, IL. Lorraine adored her five grandchildren,
Natalie Wandelt (Chris) of New York, NY, Emilee Yurish (Matt) of Bridgeport,
Stephen Stout (fiancé Connie) of Bridgeport, Ryan Barth of Chicago and Eric
Barth of Chicago. She was also blessed with three great grandsons, Wyatt
Yurish, Austin Wandelt and Kayce Yurish. In addition to her husband and
parents, she was preceded in death by her six older siblings. They were John
DeFazio, Joe DeFazio, Eugene DeFazio, Goldie Lipinski, Katie Manley and Anne
Lowery. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Lorraine was
Roman Catholic by faith. She and her husband served on various committees and
took two memorable trips to Italy with their church family. They loved to
travel and especially enjoyed following the Mountaineers, making vacations out
of bowl games. They were very fond of country music and spent numerous summers
at Jamboree in the Hills with their close friends. Lorraine played bingo from
her early days through her time of extended care. Until recent years, she was
always up for a road trip to the casino. Lorraine loved cooking and was the
happiest when family and friends were gathered around the kitchen table. She
found great joy in lending an ear, sharing stories and talking football.
Lorraine's family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers at
Bridgeport Healthcare who treated her with kindness and loved her spirit and
her entertaining personality. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford
Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330. Friends will be
received on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 12-2pm. The funeral service will be
held in the funeral home at 2pm with Reverend Dr. Ken Ramsey officiating. A
private service of committal will be held for family at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in
Monongah. Online condolences may be made at www.fordfuneralhomes.com .
