2023 MARYLAND TRIP TO HELP JOAN END HER GLEN BURNIE APARTMENT STAY
Joan begins her new life with John in a new (and old) state
Joan and John traveled from their
Tallmadge, Ohio condo to Joan’s former Glen Burnie, Maryland apartment so she
could tie up a lot of loose ends.
Her apartment lease was ending, Joan
had to clear out furnishings (gifts to others, takeaway by paid haulers, ec.)
and see family and friends she had been with for decades in the Baltimore area
of Maryland (Glen Burnie being a Baltimore suburb).
There was Carol, Joan’s friend via the
online Stitch meetings with people from around America and the world.
And Corey, Joan’s goddaughter, Corey’s
husband, David, and their cute, out-going son, Hank.
And Brenda, Joan’s Glen Burnie
apartments neighbor.
And Robin, Joan’s bartender in a bar
that reminds Joan and me of “Cheers,” where everybody knows you name, in the TV
series.
And Debbie, Joan’s friend and her
cleaning lady.
Joan and John took a break to stretch
our legs on a Sidelong Hills Mountain stop en route to Maryland.
On the first day of our 2-day trip
there was a 91st birthday dinner for John at Clarksburg’s Longhorn
Restaurant with John’s sister, Jackie, Jackie’s daughters Renee, Belinda and
Lea Ann and Belinda and Lea Ann’s husbands.
We had hopes to visit Fallingwater, the
Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Mill Run, Pennsylvania, but other events
took precedence.
The new 2024 Honda Accord did well on
its first trip through Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland.
Joan and John returned to Ohio after a
couple of weeks to resume their lives together in their Tallmadge condo.
Joan had lived in Ohio before with her
husband, in Wooster, long ago. Joan and John visited that brick home a few
months ago. It’s still in remarkably good shape although Joan said a lot of
homes have gone up in the neighborhood since her days there.
