Dave Willis hospitalized

 

Dave Willis, Class of 1961, husband of Linda Willis, Class of 1964, has been hospitalized with “a couple of UTI’s (Urinary Tract Infections) causing confusion and he is weak but I can see improvement daily,” Linda posts.

Later I was told that Dave got covid. But Linda says "Dave is doing much better" in recent days.

Dave and Linda attended the 2021 annual Monongah High Alumni Banquet. They live in Worthington as Linda did while attending Monongah High.

Linda’s parents are Virginia Minardi Nottingham and Russell J. Nottingham.

Linda, who worked for State Farm Insurance after being a majorette and class officer at Monongah High, married Dave in 1965.

Linda’s brother, John Tommy Nottingham, Class of 1968, married Victoria Blocker Nottingham, Class of 1969.

Linda worked at State Farm Insurance.

Linda and Dave’s sons are Shawn Willis, who married the late Melissa Feathers Willis, and Kevin Willis, married to Christa Willis.

Grandsons are Kyler, Bryson and Camden.

  Military hero Leon Charles Trader Passes away   Leon Charles Trader, who started with the Class of 1966 at Monongah High but left to join the Army. He was wounded in Vietnam, earning him the Purple Heart.   Everson resident Joseph Bombard , Class of 1966 along with Joe’s wife, Marva Holt Bombard, told me:   “ John Olesky , I knew Mr. Trader very well. He would have graduated class of 1966 but he quit school and joined the Army and was sent to Viet Nam where he was injured and received the Purple Heart.   “We grew up together in Everson. We hunted, fished and played kids sports together. Both our fathers were coal miners in those days. We played our sports games in a pasture field. We where really close.”   Fishing buddies is correct. JAMIE DAVIS RICHARDS PASSES AWAY. DAUGHTER OF MINNIE DAVIS AND CHICK DAVIS

  Jamie Davis Richards passes away   Jamie Davis Richards passed away. Her parents are Mary Ann “Minnie” Davis and Harry W. “Chick” Davis. Jamie’s siblings are Dianna Davis Fugera, Class of 1975 and Mark Davis, Class of 1978. Jamie married Tony Richards.   Monongah Mayor Johnboy Palmer posted: “ It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Jamie Richards passing this evening after her courageous battle with cancer. Please join me in keeping her entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Jamie's strength and resilience will always be remembered. Rest in peace, Jamie.”

          BOB AND SHERRY MYERS COLANERO BURIAL JANUARY 12 Bob and Sherry Myers Colanero burial January 12   Bob Colanero, Class of 1960 passed away December 11 and his widow, Sherry Myers Colanero,   passes away two days later.   They will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with military honors on January 12, 2024. I missed it but Jim McDaniel, Class of 1960, who lives in Behoboth Beach, Delaware, sent me the sad news, posting “So much sadness in the world.” Jim served in the Air Force for 23 years. His grandfather, Carroll Currey, owned the hotel, bank and movie theater in Monongah, all in the same block. Carroll also had a car dealership on 7th street in Fairmont. Bob’s sister, Judith Nicola Colanero, predeceased Bob. Another sibling, Danny Colanero, lies in North Carolina with wife Linda. Judy’s brother, Paul Colanero, passed away in Georgia.
