Lois Merico Joy passes away
Lois Elvira Merico Joy, Raymond Joy’s
widow passed away Monday, May 29 in Monongah.
Lois’ first husband, John “Fats”
Belosky, Jr., also is deceased.
Lois worked in the Marion County
Courthouse, Marion County Assessor’s Office and Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Her siblings are Rose Yerace, Marie
Burke, Clara Beccaloni, Eva Michael, Violet McCafferty, Edith Nowlen, Tony
Merico, Jesse Merico, Larry “LaLa” Merico, Charlie Merico, Joe Merico and Tony
Merico.
Their parents were Joseph Joy and Mary
Falcone Joy.
Raymond Joe’s siblings were Joe Joy, Class of 1957, who married
Victoria Seccuro Joy; Bob Joy, Class of 1956, on the 1955 Monongah High
football team that won the state championship; John Joy, Class of 1960; and
Bill Joy, Class of 1964, all deceased.

Lois Elvira Joy, 90, of Monongah passed
away Monday, May 29, 2023 at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah.
She was born in Fairmont on April 30, 1933 daughter of the late James and
Lillian Delligatti Merico.
Lois retired from the Marion County Court
House having worked in the Assessors and Sheriff’s office. She loved watching
WVU football and basketball.
She is survived by her two daughters Anna Marie (Stephen)
Bennington of Barrackville and Johnna (Barry) Phillips of Monongah. She is also
survived by three grandchildren John (Crystal) Bennington, Julianne (JC)
VanGilder and Tyler (Olivia) Phillips and seven great grandchildren, all of
whom she adored, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois is preceded in death by her first husband John “Fats” Belotsky,
Jr. in 1973 and her second husband, Raymond Joy, in 2023. She is also preceded
in death by her brothers and sisters Rose Yerace, Marie Burke, Clara Beccaloni,
Eva Michael, Violet McCafferty, Edith Nowlen, Tony Merico, Jesse Merico, Larry
“LaLa” Merico, Charlie Merico, Joe Merico and Tony Merico.
The family would like to thank two special nieces Penny Lee and
Clairanna Orgill and the staff at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home
especially Jean, Roberta and her favorite nurse, Judy.
Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home 801 Fairmont Avenue Fairmont
on Thursday from 2-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home
on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon David Lester officiating. Interment will
follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
