JUST LEARNED THAT HOMER & ANNE TARLEY DELOVICH'S SON, ANTHONY DELOVICH, PASSED AWAY IN MARCH
Homer
& Anne Tarley Delovich’s son Anthony passes away
Anthony Delovich,
son of the late Homer Delovich, Class of 1948, and Anne Tarley Delovich, Class
of 1955, of Four States, passed away Marcy 30 but I just learned about it.
Homer quarterbacked the 1947 Monongah High football team.
Homer and Anthony’s
brother, Dewey Delovich, North Marion Class of 1987, both won club
championships at Green Hills Country Club. The club championship trophy was
renamed for Homer after he passed away in 2000.
Dewey and
Homer both played in the West Virginia State Amateur in the same years.
Dewey won
the West Virginia high school Class AAA golf championship in 1968 and is
assistant pro at the Kiawah Island, South Carolina, Cassique Club.
Dewey met his wife, Adrianne Tetrick Delovich, at Green Hills
when she was in college and working at the golf course’s restaurant and bar.
The couple married in 2000 and are the parents of daughter Marley. Adrianne’s father is Rocky Tetrick, Class of 1964.
Homer’s
brother, Mickey Delovich (born Michael Robert Delovich)
Homer’s
brother, Ronnie “Coolie” Delovich, Class of 1952, passed away in 1969. “Coolie”
was in the facietiously named Gang That Terrorized Marion County that included
me and my late best friend for 85 years, Robert “Satch” Kasper.
Mary Ann
Delovich Matheney is Class of 1976 and Eva Marie Delovich is a North Marion
Class of 1982 graduate.
Matt Delovich, 2004 North Marion grad, is Dave Delovich's son and the grandson
of Homer and Anne Delovich. Matt and 2003 North Marion grad Brittany Noelle
Jones' children are Rylee and Alexis, which makes them Homer and Anne's
great-grandchildren.
There’s
also a Penny Delovich, Class of 1961, who married Mickey Delovich.
Suzanna
Delovich and Shayla Delovich are North Marion graduates. Hallie Delovich, 2008
Tullahoma, Tennessee High School grad, is from Monongah. Evelyn Delovich
married Gregg Wood.
Anthony’s obituary that I stumbled onto:
ANTHONY ALEXANDER
DELOVICH
January 8, 1957 - March 30, 2023
On March 30, 2023, Anthony Alexander Delovich, of
Monongah, was lifted in the loving arms of angels to heaven, where he will no
longer suffer from the ravages of cancer. He was at peace with
family at bedside when he departed. Anthony was born January 8,
1957. He was proud to share his birthday with Elvis Presley and the 1957
Chevy. Anthony was the son of Homer and Anna Lee Tarley Delovich.
He was also the grandson of Mary Delovich and Susanna Tarley, with whom
he shared a special kind of love. Anthony’s world revolved around his
three beautiful daughters, Hallie, Suzanna, and Sammy, who he loved more than
life. He will be in his daughter’s hearts forever. Anthony’s three
grandchildren, Brody, Aria, and Graham, will forever cherish the endless love
and memories they shared with their “Pap.” He is now a guardian angel for his
children and grandchildren. Anthony will be missed by his sisters,
Maryann Matheney and Eva Kaczmarek (Steve) and brothers, Ronnie, David, and
Dewey (Adrienne) and Lora Tarley Everhart (Bobby). He will also be missed
by his Aunt Martha Tarley Buchholtz (Bill) and a host of aunts, uncles,
nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Anthony followed his childhood dream and
became a talented Barber/Hairstylist. He owned his own successful shops in
Florida and in Monongah. He proudly served in the US Army National Guard.
Anthony’s generosity throughout his life was boundless. His home
was always open to anyone who needed a meal or a place to stay. At
Anthony’s request there will be no memorial service. His remains
will be buried in the Monongah Cemetery near his Mom and Dad. Anthony’s
final requests are that we pray and advocate for a cure for cancer and demand
access to quality long-term healthcare for the aged regardless of financial
status. Lifetime quality healthcare should be available to everyone, not just
for the wealthy. A family friend, Rocky Tetrick, ministered to Anthony in
the hospital. He and Anthony prayed together as Anthony accepted Jesus
Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was then at peace with dying.
Among his last words were, “I am not afraid of dying, I am afraid of
leaving those I love. He received his last rights and was blessed
by the priest. Anthony will live forever in the memories of the hearts of
those who love him. A prayer for Anthony: “O Lord please give
Anthony his eternal rest and may your light shine on him forever. AMEN.”
